"...When the human being comes to know, to realize, to accept and finally submit to this reality, the first step on the way to peace is taken. At the simplest level this is the rejection of the belief in a deity or partner (shirk) other than Allah in favor of belief in and affirmation of a singular absolute Existent (tawhid). By this act I negate on every level and for all time all multiple limited finite existance. I deny the contingent in the face of the Necessary Absolute. I obliterate the self in the Self, and I reject the quantity for the Quality of the One. I do so because this is the obvious and clear truth. On the simplest level this means I reject all idols, fetishes, objects of cult worship, created being and personalities including my "self" as well as the earth, the moon, the stars, the sun and finally, any idea "I" might have of who or what 'God' might or might not be.."

Looking for lyrics

I learned a dance and song at a women's dance a few years ago and I am looking for the title and lyrics of that song. The only part I remember is part of the chorus:
"I am ..... .... .... to the sweet surrender of the .... .... in my soul"

If anyone could help me it would be a lovely miracle.

A basic act of human connection...

Music from the world's sacred traditions...

A simple circle - holding hands - making eye contact - acknowledging each other's simple humanity

....

Though at the two dances I've been to I've been the youngest one by decades both times!!

Maybe the raver kids should start graduating to this sort of gathering as the next level! :)

where are these dancers?

I've been to two dances of universal peace now. A year ago, and a month ago.

I will totally admit, [please dont take this badly] that at first i thought it sounded possibly 'nerdy' and a bit embarrassing. But i made myself go and it was such an incredible thing.

I really like the "Ancestors, sky dwellers...." song~
one of my best guy friends here is leading up our local scene. Are there any big functions going on anywhere I can tell him about?

From the beginning of time, sacred movement, song and story have brought people together - at times of seasonal ceremony and celebration, as part of everyday life and life passages, in daily renewal and meditation, etc... The Dances of Universal Peace are part of this timeless tradition of Sacred Dance.

As in these timeless mystic traditions, the Dances use simple music, lyrics, and movements to touch the spiritual essence within ourselves and others. No musical or dance experience of any kind is required and everyone is welcomed to join in. Participation, not presentation, is the focus. No special attire is required, although comfortable, loose-fitting clothing is best.

I had just found http://RitualisticDance.tribe.net and realized that there was no tribe for Dances of Universal Peace, although they are mentioned in the Sufi tribe once in awhile...

I have been doing DUP since 1994 in San Antonio but everywhere I've moved, have found a group to dance with semi-regularly
